This week on the PGA Tour it’s the Sony Open in Hawaii, which was the first of Mark Wilson’s two wins on the PGA Tour last year. This is also the event where Michelle Wie made her PGA Tour debut. This week is the first full-field event of the year, so many of the PGA Tour’s 26 rookies will be getting their start this week.
My two rookies to watch are Bud Cauley, who you may remember got his PGA Tour card last year without having to go to Q-School (an extremely rare feat), and Erik Compton, who has made it to the big stage after having two heart transplants.
TV Coverage is Golf Channel, LIVE, Thursday-Saturday, 7-10:30pm ET, and Sunday, 7-10pm ET.
According to the Golf Channel press release, the announcers for the event are as follows: Terry Gannon and Sir Nick Faldo in the booth, Mark Rolfing and Frank Nobilo as tower announcers, Billy Ray Brown and Jerry Foltz as on course reporters, and Kelly Tilghman doing the interviews.
