UPDATE: Here’s Tiger on his website: “”I’m disappointed I won’t be able to play in this year’s AT&T National, but I’m listening to my doctors and allowing time to completely heal,” Woods said. “I am looking forward to being in Philadelphia to support the event. The Philly fans are always amazing, and I really enjoy supporting my foundation and celebrating our troops.””
The knee and Achilles just aren’t 100% yet, that’s the bottom line. Tiger Woods just announced on Twitter that he is OUT of next week’s AT&T National, an event that benefits, among other things, his Tiger Woods Foundation:
Doctor’s orders: sitting out the [AT&T National]. I’ll be in Philly to support the event. Feeling stronger every day, but not 100%.
This is a blow to the event and a blow to the Philly golf scene, but if it gets Tiger back fully healthy sooner, it’s a win for golf.
Now as for if he’ll play the British Open, that appears to still be undetermined.
