Well, what can you say. Rory McIlroy made the US Open look like the AT&T National, getting it to -13 at one point before doubling 18 and finishing at -11 and taking a 6 shot lead over Y.E. Yang into the weekend.
Look, this is clearly Rory’s tournament to lose. No one, in my belief is playing well enough to beat him. Either he’s going to come back to the field, or this is Rory’s first major.
I liked something that Gary Koch said at the end of the ESPN telecast. Sunday is the day to watch with Rory, not tomorrow. As Augusta showed, you can be cruising for 3 days but Sunday pressure is a different kind of pressure.
We’ll see this weekend if he can conquer it.
