A new champion at Memorial starts this week’s What It Means:
1) Steve Stricker notched his 10th career PGA Tour win today at the Memorial Tournament. He had a lead as big as six at one point on Saturday, but it only wound up being a one stroke victory — one he needed to gut out with clutch par putts on 16 and 17.
But the highlights came on Friday, when he made an ace at #8 to shoot 30 on his final nine and then on Saturday when he holed out for eagle on #2 in route to a front 9 of 31. When Steve Stricker is on he can go low and win anything, and if he puts it together at the right time in a major, watch out, he could certainly contend in a couple and maybe win one or two.
