At the end of last night’s “Live From” on Golf Channel, Kelly Tilghman said that Tiger Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, had told her they hoped to have an update on Tiger’s condition in the next couple days.
So I would imagine, within the next 48 hours, we will know if Tiger further injured or just aggravated his knee and Achilles problems in Thursday’s first round of The Players Championship.
Tiger has until next Friday, May 27, at 5pm ET to commit to his next logical PGA Tour start, the Memorial. Two weeks after that is the United States Open.
What is probably best for Tiger? In my mind it’s to sit out Memorial and the US Open and return at his own AT&T National July 4th weekend, which would give him roughly 6 weeks off to further rest the injuries.
What will he do? Hard to say without knowing what exactly is the issue post-Players. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him play Memorial, but now I also wouldn’t be surprised to see him sit out for a while too.
We just don’t know.
