Tiger Woods announced on his website today that he did NOT suffer any further damage when he aggravated his left knee and Achilles issues on Thursday at The Players Championship. On prospects of playing at the US Open:
There is no definitive time frame for healing, but Woods will likely play in the U.S. Open at Congressional Country Club, June 16-19. It is doubtful he will compete in the Memorial Tournament while he undergoes rehabilitation and works on strengthening his leg. Playing prior to the U.S. Open will be a week-to-week decision.
This is obviously good news for Tiger, that he didn’t injure it further, and good news for golf fans as well.
White it is a blow to Jack Nicklaus and the Memorial tournament, the big winners could be the St. Jude Classic in Memphis the week before the US Open. Tiger needs reps, desperately, and may have to break his tradition of not playing the week before the US Open to get his game prime for Congressional.
