The Associated Press’ Doug Ferguson’s weekly notes column is always a must-read, but this week’s had some great nuggets in it. Here’s the link.
The two headlines:
1) Phil-I withdrew due to mental fatigue-Mickelson apparently sent a text message to PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem last Thursday from the sixth fairway at The Memorial to complain about all the gallery members not abiding by the cell phone policy. Some think that contributed to his withdraw.
As a side note, Finchem stated yesterday that the cell phone policy won’t be changed.
2) It appears, as the PGA Tour players and staff try to figure out how to seed the Nationwide and PGA Tour players for The Finals Series in 2013, that the top 15 guys on the Nationwide Tour money list would be assured of their PGA Tour cards no matter what. Currently that number is 25. The rest of the 35 cards would be figured out from the Series.
I like that idea.
I highly recommend reading the rest of the piece as well.
