This week on the PGA Tour it is the final stop before next week’s Masters, the Shell Houston Open. Even though Redstone Golf Club is nothing like Augusta National, tournament officials have tried in recent years to eliminate the rough and speed up the greens to get it playing like Augusta. The players love it.
TV Coverage is: Thursday-Friday, 3-6pm ET, Golf Channel, Saturday-Sunday, 1-3pm ET, Golf Channel and 3-6pm ET, NBC.

Here’s this week’s What It Means:
1) Tiger Woods won the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill. Tiger Woods won a PGA Tour event for the first time since 2009. Tiger Woods got a legitimate win.
The Masters is in two weeks. I can’t wait.
Tiger has every facet of his game working right now — from his long game and especially his tee shots (#1 in total driving again) to his short game and putter, where he’s beginning to sink key putts again (see the par putt today on #15).

…when things get busy, some things don’t happen like you want them to. And for me, that meant not posting my usual digest and fantasy posts about the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Maybe that’s the key…Tiger doesn’t win when I post everything, and does when I do. Hmm…
In any case, back to full blast this week.

The New York Jets have traded for Tim Tebow today, sending the Denver Broncos a 4th and a 6th round pick and getting a 7th round pick in return.
This is an awful, awful decision. This will create too much of a distraction. This will put even more pressure on Mark Sanchez, and after just one incompletion they’ll be calling for Tebow.
Mike Francesa and all the dissenters are right. This is for publicity, for $$, and to take back the town after the Giants have won the Super Bowl.
This does NOTHING to help the Jets win the Super Bowl. He’s taking a roster spot that can be used for someone else that can actually help this team. 6 snaps a game doesn’t help this team.
UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Many details apparently need to be worked out but CBSSports.com golf writer Steve Elling is reporting that the PGA Tour Policy Board approved the Q-school and schedule revamp today at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. The schedule revamp would have the 2014 season starting in the 2013 calendar year, and the Q-school revamp will make the Nationwide Tour the only main access point to the PGA Tour.
Tim Finchem speaks at 1:30pm ET where we’ll probably learn more.

Here’s this week’s What It Means:
1) Congrats to Luke Donald for hitting a fantastic 7-iron on the first playoff hole and sinking the short putt to win the Transitions Championship in a four-man playoff.
Donald goes back to number one in the world with the win and just puts himself in position, once again, with a win under his belt this year to make that push for a major. Augusta could be his…watch out folks.

Tiger Woods has made his decision: his Friday practice session went well and he will compete in both the Tavistock Cup (Monday-Tuesday, Noon ET on Golf Channel) and the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill next week.
When you count in the Bay Hill pro-am, that means seven straight days of golf for a man who just has recovered from an Achilles injury.
With the Masters three weeks away I believe this is the wrong decision, but hey, I’m not Tiger.
