Tiger Woods surprised many, including myself, by today committing to the Frys.com Open PGA Tour Fall Series event, to be held October 6-9 in San Martin, CA, near Stanford’s campus.
This is an event Tiger has no prior affiliation to whatsoever, and according to Woods, that was the idea:
John Fry and his company have supported the tour, and I’ve heard good things about the event and the golf course,” Woods said. “One of my goals this year was to participate in a tournament I hadn’t played before, and now, I will.”
This is the event that Rocco Mediate won last year, holing out a shot from the fairway in all four rounds.
This development is great news for golf as Tiger Woods will now help a tournament that is usually forgotten in the football landscape.
