LITTLE SILVER, N.J. – Freehold High School boys basketball overcame a slow start and a fourth quarter comeback from Old Bridge High School to defeat the Knights 52-46 in their opening round game at Red Bank Regional High School. Guard Jesse Hunt led the Colonials with 24 points and hit three clutch free throws late to seal the victory. After the game, Colonials Head Coach Ben DiBiase was pleased with the victory but not with how his team played down the stretch.
“We always talk about finishing strong. That wasn’t finishing strong,” he said. “We did make some free throws down the stretch but we turned it over too much and made some inappropriate decisions.”
The Colonials got off to a slow start from the field, missing a couple threes early before hitting their stride with two baskets from Hunt and one from Chris Torre to make it 6-3 Colonials.
