Yes, the Jets can still clinch a spot in the playoffs this week. Yes, I said playoffs. If you don’t like that I’m mentioning this, well, sorry.

NEW YORK Jets
NY Jets clinch a playoff spot:
1) NYJ win + MIA loss or tie + IND loss or tie + KC loss
2) NYJ win + MIA loss or tie + IND loss or tie + SD loss or tie
3) NYJ tie + MIA loss + IND loss or tie + SD loss
There are other scenarios in which New York may clinch a playoff spot if it clinches the strength of victory tiebreaker over certain teams this weekend.

So basically, a 49ers win tonight would be really nice.

Camilo Villegas needs a new caddie on the PGA Tour. His current caddie, Brett Waldman, attempted to qualify for the PGA Tour through PGA Tour Qualifying School. He didn’t reach his big goal, but he did reach a smaller one — full status on the Nationwide Tour. This left him with a decision — job security by sticking with Camilo, or continuing the pursuit of your dream. His choice: the Nationwide Tour.

“It’s just a dream,” Waldman said. “I don’t want to look back knowing that I had the chance to do it and not doing it, and hating myself for it. I would always look back and say, ‘What if?’ There’s a reason I got to where I am. I might as well chase the dream.”

….

“I’m very happy for Brett,” Villegas said. “We had a great talk during the Q-school tournament and then again after he earned his Nationwide card. He is chasing his dream and I fully support him. He knows that I will do everything I can to help him, but he’s already taken a very big step on his own. I’m proud of him.”

I’m happy for him and hope he does well on the Nationwide Tour, but if I were in that spot, I would have stuck with Villegas. I have a feeling Camilo is bound for big things in 2011.

The Jets have announced that Sal Alosi has been suspended indefinitely for coaching the straight line along the sideline in which he stuck his knee out and tripped Miami’s Nolan Carroll. This was brought to light by new evidence and this story isn’t over.

The Associated Press’ Doug Ferguson talks to Tiger Woods’ caddie Steve Williams on how 2010 was a different year for the tandem, from the rumor that they were breaking up to the rebuilding of Tiger’s swing under Sean Foley.

It’s a good read, one that’s certainly worth your time.

The New York Jets on Monday night suspended Sal Alosi, the strength and conditioning coach for the rest of the season and playoffs, without pay, and fined him $25,000 for tripping Miami Dolphins’ player Nolan Carroll in Sunday’s game.

Now former Dolphin Zach Thomas says that the Jets have lined up in one tightly formed line along the sideline on punts in the past, hoping to interfere with the gunner.

Look, I have no idea what the truth here is — it’s not something I look for while watching the game — but they need to get this whole scandal behind them and move on.

Precious time in their season is ticking away.

As the snow starts to fall on the east coast, it brings us to this week’s What It Means:

The Fact That I’m Even Writing This Article: Golf used to have an offseason, called by some the silly season, where there were a bunch of fun events for some nice sums of money money. If you didn’t play in those, you took a vacation and or ready for the next year. Not anymore. From Tiger’s event being for World Ranking points to the European Tour starting their 2011 season in 2010 (Pablo Martin is your champion in tourney #1), golf seemingly never ends and before you know it, we’ll be starting the 2011 PGA Tour season in Hawaii.

Rich Cimini is reporting that RT Damien Woody is going to have his knee scoped and will miss the remainder of the regular season. He could return for the playoffs — if the Jets get there.

This will be the first time an offensive lineman has missed a regular season game since 2006 due to injury. Wayne (I give up many sacks) Hunter will replace him. Yes, I’m still mad, and yes I’m still losing hope.

But I guess you still gotta believe, right?

NEW YORK JETS: Week 14 Review

Horrible, horrible loss. I wrote this on Facebook last night, and I’ll post it here:

I honestly think it could work for the Jets: Tiger Woods has had a lot of backdoor top 5 and top 10 finishes in his career where, seemingly out of contention on Sunday he just says whatever. Stevie, I’m going at every flag, forgetting swing thoughts, etc, and just lets loose. If the Jets can open up the offense, have Sanchez forget about everything and just play football, I think we can beat Pitt. If not, we’re done and the season is over. I firmly, and unfortunately, believe that.

Yes, my New York Jets, horrible loss and all, having playoff clinching scenarios for Week 14. They are as follows:

NY Jets clinch a playoff spot:
1) NYJ win + SD loss or tie + JAC loss or tie
2) NYJ win + SD loss or tie + IND loss or tie
3) NYJ tie + OAK loss or tie + SD loss + IND loss

Clinch now, and I think all the fans can relax and not worry about a Mets-like collapse.

Then focus on getting strong for the playoffs and pushing for the division.
