I’m sorry, but this has to be a joke. The Associated Press is reporting tonight that Ryder Cup Captain Corey Pavin will talk to Tiger Woods at the PGA Championship next month and “learn whether he wants to be in his team at Celtic Manor in Wales in October.” Really? Tiger wouldn’t want to play?
Let’s move beyond the fact that if I’m not mistaken Tiger has already says that he does want to. First of all, who wouldn’t want to represent your country? And secondly, even if he doesn’t make the team by points (he’s currently 7th with four events left before the cutoff), who wouldn’t want to have the world’s #1 player , one of the fiercest competitors, and a perfect partner for Steve Stricker or Jim Furyk on your team?
This whole thing has to be a joke.

The only thing that is a “joke” is that Tiger Woods should be considered as a lock for the Ryder Cup. His performance since the 2010 Masters has been an absolute failure, and by competing alone, he would be providing a constant distraction from the other members of the team.
Also, do we really want Tiger Woods as a representative for the United States? Is he really the kind of person who should be representing our country?
