The PODS Championship

March 5, 2008

This week the PODS Championship takes over the PGA Tour, possibly for the last time. As I posted here the other day, PODS, the storage company, is backing out of its sponsorship of this event after only two years. On the PGA Tour, sponsorship is needed for any tournament to run, and PODS is backing out. Without a sponsorship you can’t have enough of a purse, for the winners, money to actually run the tournament, etc.

This week I look for Ernie Els to continue his strong play and possibly win again, which would make 2 victories in consecutive weeks, setting up for a great battle next week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and Bay Hill, a place where Tiger has won at 4 times.

TV Coverage is LIVE from 3-6pm all 4 days, with the first 2 days on The Golf Channel and the final 2 on NBC with Dan Hicks and Johnny Miller in the 18th tower.
